How Reserved Baskets Work
Reserved baskets are not a wishlist. Use them only for books you genuinely plan to buy. Once the books in a reserved basket are available, an order will be created and you will be expected to complete payment.
Books are reserved and ordered from the distributor once you add a product to the basket and even before you finalize it.
If this feature is abused by adding books that you do not plan to buy, your access to reserved baskets may be restricted.
What reserved baskets are for
Reserved baskets let you manage your orders in a more flexible way. They are useful when you want to collect several upcoming or currently unavailable items into one basket and complete payment later.
Put items in the same basket when you want them to be handled and shipped together. If you want separate shipments, use separate baskets.
1. Reserve a product
On a product page, click Reserve. If you are not logged in, you will be asked to log in first and then returned to the product page.
Choose an existing reserved basket or create a new basket name. You can also set the quantity before confirming.
2. Manage your reserved baskets
Open My Reserved Baskets from the basket icon in the header. The left side shows your baskets. Selecting one shows the products inside it.
You can rename a basket, move selected items to another basket, remove selected items, or cancel a basket. Moving an item keeps its original reservation date, so its stock priority is preserved.
Use the move option to keep together the items you want shipped together before you finalize a basket.
For pre-orders, it is usually best to keep the basket open until you are sure you do not need more changes. If a release date is moved, you may decide to move the item to a different basket before finalizing.
3. Understand item statuses
In Stock means available stock has been allocated to your reservation.
Pre-Order means the item has a future release date and incoming stock is expected to cover your reservation. The expected date is the release date.
Backorder means there is not enough current or incoming stock allocated to your reservation yet. The expected date is estimated from when the item was added.
4. Finalize and pay
When you are ready, click Finalize. The basket moves to Payment Pending, and a payment link is sent or made available for resend.
Once a basket is finalized, it can no longer be edited. Finalize only when you do not plan to make any more changes.
Finalizing a basket does not necessarily mean every item can be shipped immediately. It means the basket has entered the payment/order flow.
If you do not finalize manually, the store will finalize the basket automatically after every item in that basket becomes in stock. This happens 12 hours after all items become in stock.
After finalization, you have 10 days to complete payment. If payment is not completed before the deadline, the basket is cancelled automatically and appears under Cancelled/Unpaid.
Once payment is completed, the basket moves to Completed. You can still check item status and expected in-store dates from both the Payment Pending and Completed tabs for availability information.
The dashboard shows countdown timers when a basket is waiting for automatic finalization or when a payment deadline is active.
Good use of reserved baskets
- Reserve only items you intend to buy.
- Remove items promptly if you change your mind.
- Keep items in the same basket if you want them shipped together.
- Keep pre-order baskets open if you may still need to move items because release dates change.
- Finalize a basket only when you are ready to complete payment and no longer need to edit it.
