During this imperial visit, princess-to-be Maria learns more about the plight of the prince’s younger sister, Princess Ancelline. Once, Ancelline saw marriage to Renato as a way out of a restricted life in Sandelz. In fact, her brother remains intent on marrying his sister to Renato—despite the fact that the crown prince is happily engaged to Maria!
