A fake engagement spirals out of control and into a hunt for pirate's gold on a tropical island.

The universe loves to mess with journalist Sofia Alvarez. She already lost her relationship and her job, forcing her to accept a roommate to afford rent—her way-too-hot former coworker turned foe, Barrett. Now thanks to her ex forgetting to cancel his prearranged kiss cam marriage proposal at a New York Pirates hockey game, Sofia is about to lose her dignity, too. And in front of Barrett, no less.

Barrett “Bear” Winston always had a thing for Sofia. But when a personal emergency had forced Bear back to the UK, he’d all but ruined any chance he had with her all those years ago. Now, as he watches her heart shatter in front of thousands on the Jumbotron, he does what any self-respecting white knight would do to make amends—he drops to one knee and fake-proposes to save Sofia the embarrassment.

But the adventure is only beginning for the would-be bride and groom, as they are surprised by an all-inclusive trip to the island off the coast of Belize that inspired the hockey team’s seafaring mascot. When it looks like there might be real treasure on the island and finding it could be their big career break, Sofia and Bear must decide whether it’s time for a parlay and whether they can finally go from hate to mate.
