ABOUT
Lucky Lee doesn’t feel so lucky. Hoping to start fresh after losing her mom, her dad has uprooted their lives in California and made them move all the way across the country to Chinatown in New York City. Now he’s working all the time just to make ends meet, and Lucky is left to roam the neighborhood alone. With Hungry Ghost Month about to start, all Lucky wants to do is build an altar to guide her mother’s spirit to their new home. But Lucky’s father doesn’t want to dwell in the past. Then, Lucky finds an eviction notice taped to their front door. See? Unlucky.
In search of a job to help with the rent, Lucky follows a mysterious cat to an even more mysterious restaurant owned by the lovable (and yes also mysterious) Mama and Papa V. There, Lucky learns that ghosts are real—and if they have no family to remember them this month, really hungry. Mama and Papa V hire her on the spot to deliver food to ghosts in need.
At first, riding her bike around Chinatown with the other meal delivery kids—who call themselves the Boo Crew—is the kind of fun and friendship Lucky has been missing. Maybe her new connection to the supernatural will even help her find her mom’s ghost! But there are more hungry ghosts than ever this year, and they are getting hangry. An ancient and vengeful soul-eating spirit has crossed the veil, and it won’t be satisfied with just the dead. It’s up to Lucky and the Boo Crew to stop this insatiable force before they and their loved ones end up on the other side.
The heartfelt celebration of family and memory in Pixar’s COCO meets the spooky hijinks from GHOSTBUSTERS in this delicious meal of a novel filled to bursting with humor and heart from debut author Niki Ang.
STANDARD, PRIMARY, DM AND VARIANT COVERS
Standard and Primary covers are widely available through general retailers. They often have higher print runs and can be cheaper, especially during sales.
In contrast, Direct Market (DM) and variant covers are primarily sold in comic shops. DM editions tend to have more limited availability and may be more valuable to collectors.
The main differences lie in artwork style, availability, price, and collector appeal. Ultimately, the choice between standard and variant covers depends on personal preference, budget, and individual collecting goals.
