ABOUT
The sold out sequential sensation is back-with a new, silver age design! ICE CREAM MAN is proud to present the second printing of its most formally innovative issue ever: “The Mortal Coil Shuffle” is a one-of-a-kind ICE CREAM MAN story... told via a deck of 55 “playing” cards; when read in order, the cards create a comics experience unlike any other before. The first printing (with its fantasy-forward design) was gone faster than your cash at a casino. But now, due to popular demand, there’s another chance to experience this stacked comic book EVENT... delivered via a beautiful, custom-designed deck of cards (featuring custom backs and a custom box, too! ). All art is by ICE CREAM MAN stalwarts MARTÍN MORAZZO, CHRIS O’HALLORAN, and GOOD OLD NEON. Some cards tell part of the story; other cards cast inscrutable spells on its unwitting characters; some cards “play” and push the narrative in unexpected directions. Tarot cards, credit cards, flash cards…all 55 come together to tell a story ABOUT cards, THROUGH cards. It’s a kind of close-up magic trick... that might leave you a little flush of heart. So get ready (once again) to Go Fish, Draw Four, Declare War, and (probably) Fold Your Hand in this exciting new comics format-told, as ever, in the creepy, strange voice readers have come to expect from all things ICE CREAM MAN.
STANDARD, PRIMARY, DM AND VARIANT COVERS
Standard and Primary covers are widely available through general retailers. They often have higher print runs and can be cheaper, especially during sales.
In contrast, Direct Market (DM) and variant covers are primarily sold in comic shops. DM editions tend to have more limited availability and may be more valuable to collectors.
The main differences lie in artwork style, availability, price, and collector appeal. Ultimately, the choice between standard and variant covers depends on personal preference, budget, and individual collecting goals.
