ABOUT

An interactive storytelling game with over 600 prompts encouraging creativity, conversation, and community from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Emily Henry.

This deck of 200 cards featuring 600 storytelling prompts will inspire you to share your stories—whether factual or fictional—and only needs a minimum of two people to play! Each card includes a fun theme, a short description, and three related prompts. Players take turns drawing a card and choosing one of the prompts to read to the group. They then tell a story in response to the prompt, which could be true or entirely made up. The other players ask questions and decide if the story is true or not, scoring a point if they guess correctly. The prompts span life experiences such as first love, friendship, and heartbreak alongside bookish themes like meet-cutes, found family, and protagonist, such as:

Beach: Known for its calming waters and spirit-lifting sunshine, the beach is the perfect place to unwind with friends or a good book. Tell us a story about…
  • your favorite memory from the beach.
  • a time your beach day went awry.
  • the craziest thing you’ve seen at the beach.

Family: Family can be defined by blood, or by connections we make with people along the journey of life. Tell us a story about…
  • a time that you found family in an unexpected place.
  • when the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
  • a time when you wished you were with your family.

With inspiring storytelling prompts to get the creative juices flowing, It’s Actually a Funny Story is the perfect game to play with close friends and family at your next get-together, and you can use the cards as journaling prompts or unique icebreakers to make new connections.

STANDARD, PRIMARY, DM AND VARIANT COVERS

Standard and Primary covers are widely available through general retailers. They often have higher print runs and can be cheaper, especially during sales.

In contrast, Direct Market (DM) and variant covers are primarily sold in comic shops. DM editions tend to have more limited availability and may be more valuable to collectors.

The main differences lie in artwork style, availability, price, and collector appeal. Ultimately, the choice between standard and variant covers depends on personal preference, budget, and individual collecting goals.

PRODUCT TYPES

Comic book enthusiasts have various formats to choose from when collecting their favorite stories.
Here's a brief overview of the main types:

Omnibus

  • Large, hardcover collections
  • Usually contain complete runs or extensive story arcs
  • Typically 800-1000+ pages
  • Higher price point, often €100-€150

Oversized Hardcover (OHC)

  • Similar dimensions to omnibus, but thinner
  • Collect shorter runs or story arcs
  • Usually 300-600 pages
  • Priced between €30-€50

Hardcover (HC)

  • Standard-sized hardcover books
  • Collect 6-12 issues typically
  • Similar dimensions to single issues, but with a hard cover
  • Priced around €25-€35

Trade Paperback (TP)

  • Softcover collections
  • Standard comic book size
  • Usually collect 4-6 issues
  • Most affordable option, typically €15-€25

Other Formats

  • Absolute Editions: Oversized, deluxe hardcovers (mainly DC Comics)
  • Compendiums: Massive paperback collections
