ABOUT
Twelve years ago, their home burned, their parents died, and two sisters disappeared into the dark winter night.
Hiding is a way of life for Anne and Kit Graves now that they live in Albion’s seedy capital city, a place where magic is considered heresy by the church and crown, and inquisitors patrol the streets hunting witches. By day Anne runs an apothecary. At night she trains her sister in the ways of the Old Gods. But Kit’s habits of petty theft and reckless magic are starting to attract too much attention. Especially since the elemental power she carries hasn’t been seen since witches lost the holy war to humans over a thousand years ago.
With another war looming on the horizon, the High Council of Witches implements a conscription, dragging Anne into mandatory service despite her desire to remain hidden even from her own kind. Her mission: infiltrate the palace nobility as a spy. Now Anne must leave both Kit and the hard-won safety of her quiet life behind.
When her handsome, mysterious assignment partner, Gideon Darby, discovers one of Anne’s darkest secrets during her training, their entire operation is thrown into jeopardy. As desires flare and plans are compromised, Anne realizes that the consequences of this war are more dire than she ever could have imagined.
STANDARD, PRIMARY, DM AND VARIANT COVERS
Standard and Primary covers are widely available through general retailers. They often have higher print runs and can be cheaper, especially during sales.
In contrast, Direct Market (DM) and variant covers are primarily sold in comic shops. DM editions tend to have more limited availability and may be more valuable to collectors.
The main differences lie in artwork style, availability, price, and collector appeal. Ultimately, the choice between standard and variant covers depends on personal preference, budget, and individual collecting goals.
