Ron Clements is a key filmmaker (along with co-writer and co-director John Musker) responsible for some of the most beloved animated Disney movies, including The Fox and the Hound, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and The Princess and the Frog, among others.

Now he shares behind-the-scenes stories, animation Easter eggs, and fun facts from his 45 years at Walt Disney Animation Studios, including:
  • People who directly worked on & influenced the films
  • Research trips and selection of artists, voice cast and songwriters in preparation for the films
  • Screenwriting, character development and world-building processes
  • From storyboards, technical innovations, voice recording and animation to final frames
  • Early screenings (reaction to feedback and resulting changes)
  • Press tours, debuts, receptions, awards seasons and growing the Disney legacy

The corners of this coffee table book also serve as an animation flip-book, celebrating Disney characters from the 1970s–2010s. Making Disney Magic . . . from a Mermaid to Moana is a fun and magical art-packed memoir sure to delight every Disney fan!

STANDARD, PRIMARY, DM AND VARIANT COVERS

Standard and Primary covers are widely available through general retailers. They often have higher print runs and can be cheaper, especially during sales.

In contrast, Direct Market (DM) and variant covers are primarily sold in comic shops. DM editions tend to have more limited availability and may be more valuable to collectors.

The main differences lie in artwork style, availability, price, and collector appeal. Ultimately, the choice between standard and variant covers depends on personal preference, budget, and individual collecting goals.

  • Usually 300-600 pages
  • Priced between €30-€50

Hardcover (HC)

  • Standard-sized hardcover books
  • Collect 6-12 issues typically
  • Similar dimensions to single issues, but with a hard cover

Trade Paperback (TP)

  • Softcover collections
