My Friend's Best Wedding

Newly single in New York City and on the cusp of thirty, Jules receives an astonishing voicemail—her childhood best friend, Rye, is getting married this weekend and desperately needs her there. What’s more? His fiancée is none other than Kiki Winters, the woman responsible for ruining Jules’s life back in high school—a secret Rye knows nothing about.

Jules doesn’t love returning to Palos Verdes, California—home to her emotionally distant mom and overly reliant dad—but Rye is her best friend, so of course she hops on the next flight. And, okay, maybe she wants to see if this thing with Kiki is legit. Before long, Jules realizes her truth: She has to stop this wedding.

It’s a scenario right out of the 1997 romantic comedy classic My Best Friend’s Wedding, and back in New York, Jules’s friend and screenwriting partner is inspired to start writing a sequel to the film. As Jules’s story converges with the fictional screenplay, uncomfortable truths are revealed, and both Rye and Jules must contend with the question, “How do you know when you’re ready to actually be with the love of your life?”
