ABOUT
In recognition of what would have been Kubert’s centennial, several of his most beloved wartime stories, featuring what is arguably his most popular character, are presented here in fully restored color to showcase the detail, dynamics, and emotional weight of Kubert’s incomparable style. Whether he was drawing characters in the heat of battle or having quiet moments before the storm, Kubert was a master storyteller whose legacy lives on at The Kubert School.
This deluxe hardcover features stories from G.I. Combat #68; Our Army at War #83, #91, #117, #135, #141, #158, #165, #196, #233, and #238; Sgt. Rock #302-304 and #368; Sgt. Rock Special #1; Joe Kubert Presents #5; and Showcase #45. Plus, never-before-seen original Sgt. Rock artwork and brand-new forewords by artist Andy Kubert (Flashpoint, Superman: Up in the Sky) and writer Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets, Sgt. Rock: Between Hell and a Hard Place).
STANDARD, PRIMARY, DM AND VARIANT COVERS
Standard and Primary covers are widely available through general retailers. They often have higher print runs and can be cheaper, especially during sales.
In contrast, Direct Market (DM) and variant covers are primarily sold in comic shops. DM editions tend to have more limited availability and may be more valuable to collectors.
The main differences lie in artwork style, availability, price, and collector appeal. Ultimately, the choice between standard and variant covers depends on personal preference, budget, and individual collecting goals.
