ABOUT
“Lovingly written and painted, this strange and silly book will delight everyone who reads it. […] Young people will understand that in its strangeness and silliness it mirrors our own strange and silly world. ” — Eleanor Davis, author of Stinky and How to Be Happy On a normal morning, a boy named Thomas discovers his mother has been replaced by a fern... a monstrous fern! What happened to his mom? Did the fern eat her? Where did this fern come from anyway? Outer space? Will it eat him? Will it eat his father too? That Night, a Monster... is a beautifully painted all-ages comic book that helps very young readers grapple with fear, change, and the unknown. Marzena Sowa is an internationally renowned Polish graphic novelist. Her best-known work, Marzi—a memoir of Communist Poland through the eyes of a child—has been translated into several languages. She loves dictionaries and cheesecake, hates spiders, and is a crazy skateboarder (even if she is not very good! ). Berenika Kolomycka is a cartoonist, sculptor, illustrator, and recipient of the Grand Prix at the Lodz International Comics Festival. She's also the author of the Tiny Fox & Big Boar series of comics for kids.
STANDARD, PRIMARY, DM AND VARIANT COVERS
Standard and Primary covers are widely available through general retailers. They often have higher print runs and can be cheaper, especially during sales.
In contrast, Direct Market (DM) and variant covers are primarily sold in comic shops. DM editions tend to have more limited availability and may be more valuable to collectors.
The main differences lie in artwork style, availability, price, and collector appeal. Ultimately, the choice between standard and variant covers depends on personal preference, budget, and individual collecting goals.
