The Garter Stitch Murder

In the small Wisconsin town of Fallingbrook, retired biology teacher Peggy Beck spends her time knitting in the Deputy Donut café with her pals, the Knitpickers, and renovating a dilapidated motel. But she has to add sleuthing to her busy schedule when a mother of the bride is murdered . . .

After messing up the beginner’s garter stitch she’s working on, Peggy joins the Knitpickers for a peaceful nature walk. But in the park, they run into a wedding party decorating the area for an upcoming outdoor ceremony. The mother of the bride has already aggravated Peggy’s friend, a bridal boutique owner, by demanding a refund for a nonrefundable deposit—and now she completely loses her cool, issuing threats and calling the cops. It spoils the hike—but on the bright side, Peggy also finds a sweet little kitten.

Returning the next day, just in case the kitten has siblings who also need rescuing, the women find the mother of the bride dead. And a scrap of Peggy’s knitting left near the crime scene is casting doubt on her innocence. Needless to say, she’s quite distressed!

The lead investigator, one of Peggy’s former students, doesn’t want the ladies poking their noses in. But soon enough, they’re all entangled in a mystery laced with danger . . .
